Prepare for Art Visit with Stephanie Thwaites.

Artist Stephanie Thwaites lives and works in Novato, California.

Stephanie is a graduate of the Yale University Fine Arts program, studying painting, graphic design, and photography. Here she developed a strong understanding of composition and an eye for color and harmony. Upon graduating, she continued her design studies with graduate courses in Switzerland. After a 20-year career as a creative director and brand manager in Connecticut, she returned to her fine arts background in 2009. She moved to the Bay Area in 2014. While Stephanie most often paints with oil and wax, she enjoys exploring different techniques and materials, using the medium to uncover something unseen or unexpected. Often her paintings are created over time, as she adds and removes layers until the work feels complete. Inspired by working with fellow artists, she continues to study multiple disciplines through workshops and classes offered in the Bay Area. Stephanie works out of her studio at Marin MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Novato, CA and has shown her work through solo exhibitions as well as in many national and local juried shows and galleries. Her paintings are included in collections around the country and internationally.
