Art Visit with Sofie Ramos.

Sofie Ramos creates large-scale sculptural installations of vibrantly painted and precariously placed household forms and textures that surround and/or confront the viewer with an over-stimulating spectacle. Playfully appropriating elements from Painting, interior decoration and everyday domestic life, she builds up fantastical site-specific compositions that uniquely respond/adapt to, fuse with, and adulterate each new space they inhabit. Her installations imagine and bring to life other worlds inside/alongside/underneath/etc. our own and offer alternative existences for objects and humans alike. Sofie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, received her BA in Visual Art from Brown University and her MFA in Art Practice from University of California, Berkeley, and is now based in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
