Get ready for Art Visit with Nathalie Lendermann.

I draw my inspiration for most of my abstract landscapes from the always changing appearance of sea, waves, tides, light and sky. Painting semi-abstract fluid oceanscapes helps me to connect with nature and people in the Bay Area after having moved here from Berlin in the middle of a pandemic. Going out to the ocean to surf and play with my husband and two young boys almost every weekend has helped us to accept and enjoy our new home in this socially distant time. 

Letting myself be guided by the flow of the paints without strict rules and some but limited control over the final outcome is a process that reminds me of the unpredictability of the ocean.

I use between 80 and 100% leftover/recycled housepaints for my artwork to bring materials to good use that would otherwise be trashed and to work more conscious of the need to protect the environment.

I have successfully shown artworks at Ingleside Gallery, Hunt & Gather and at The Drawing Room in San Francisco.
