Artist Jun Yang lives and works in San Francisco, California.
My name is Jun Yang. I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, but San Francisco has been my home for the past 10 years. The city inspires me and my art with its amazing cultural diversity, its celebrated urban landscape and natural beauty, and the support and protection it provides me as a gay artist. I am a self-taught, versatile artist with a broad range of skill sets. I use a wide variety of tools and materials to create art pieces in a variety of sizes and locations, including large and small scale murals. I have shown work in numerous national and international exhibitions. Recent exhibits include The de Young Museum, San Francisco City Hall, Kunsthaus Graz(Austria), and galleries in Taipei, Seoul, Berlin, and the Bay Area. My work evokes emotions and refracts them through my use of space and colors. My art speaks to viewers in a universal way, transcending the need fora common language. Each piece is incomplete until the viewer contributes their own context to the conversation.
