Erik was born in San Jose in 1980. His work unites soft with raw, light with dark, and textured with smooth, in abstract paintings, sculptures, and installations that stimulate mind, body, and soul. Splashes of bold color and reflective materials often accented by the warm glow of neon, Otto has developed an improvisational materially-oriented practice that often pairs conventional and unconventional mediums—an experimental approach inspired by his formative years immersed in freeform dance and percussion drums.
