Meet artist Clare Metague in studio.
Artist Clare Metague lives and works in San Francisco, California.
I'm a San Francisco native raised in the Mission District by my beautiful mother who immigrated from Central America. Both of my parents had successful careers in creative fields. I grew up surrounded by art, fashion and numerous art projects. After graduating from CCA (California College of the Arts) in Oakland, I enjoyed many years working as a graphic artist before turning my attention to the fine arts.
My mono prints (mono = each print is unique) are often inspired by various concepts and observations ranging from the field of energy healing to the precious beauty in our oceans. They are often created by a combination of press work, hand rubbing onto archival Japanese thin papers and then adhering with archival adhesive onto a thicker paper.
