I ran into Anne Wolfe by accident when looking for another artist in Art Works Downtown in San Rafael. I was surprised by her warm welcome as I passed by her studio. She immediately invited me in.
Anne is a very charismatic woman and easy to fall in love with. Like many Californians, she followed her inner-callings and started an art practice. Her studio resembles her own artwork. With aquamarine chairs and a glass table it feels more like a hair salon than an artist’s studio. Standing in front of me, Anne looks like she’s at the center of her blue world. Before I realize it, we are deep into conversation discussing the meaning of her artwork.
Feminine energy is central to Anne's artwork. Anne is a beautiful goddess. She is calm, forever young, and radiating positive energy as she lures me with conversation into a transcendental trip. As I’m talking to Anne, layers of reality strip off to reveal underlying beauty and hidden connections.
Anne's paintings have strong visual language, eye pleasing symmetry and joyful figuration. She mixes aquamarine ornaments with symbolic iconography and cryptic glyphs. Every detail in Anne's painting has a meaning: love, leadership, wisdom, guidance, partnership, fate, destiny, communication, protection, energy... In Anne’s own words, her paintings are packed with positive symbols. Viewing Anne's artwork feels almost therapeutic.
Anne wants everyone to be able to afford a piece of her art, so in addition to selling originals she offers high quality prints on archival paper. She also sells t-shirts and other affordable swag, like metal pins, that feature her images.
